Personal Note from Chris
And now we're onto the regularly scheduled updates. Kind of, I let this one go a little late on purpose just because of when the last one was published. From here on out we're looking at getting this out by the first weekend of the month.
RECENT EPISODES ROUNDUP
- Digimon Battle Spirit with Joshua Moore (Morphenomenal: How the Power Rangers Conquered the World) (August 4, 2025)
Another guest that I pulled from Gimmicks. Are we sensing a theme here? Plus it’s nice to give people a chance to talk about something that they love that isn’t their main thing to talk about. Honestly I think that’s a big draw for some of the guests.
- The Punisher (2005) with Alex Squires (The StarWell Foundation, Opinions May Vary) (August 10, 2025)
I put out the call for guests on social media and this is the first of 3 that you’ll get this month from that sort of thing. What’s kind of funny with this one is that Alex was genuinely worried that I wouldn’t let him on since his main experience with the game was the PC version. It’s the same game, so it doesn’t matter to me.
- Batman Begins with Wells Thompson (WellsThompson.com) (August 17, 2025)
I’d been toying with the idea of asking Wells to be on the show for a while. Then one day I thought “Screw it, just ask.” And I’m really glad I did because he brought some great insight to this one.
- Yu-Gi-Oh Worldwide Edition – Stairway to the Destined Duel & Falsebound Kingdom with GothJon (2 ACT Podcast)) (August 24, 2025)
Episode 2 of the Random Guest from Social Media Extravaganza, and another hit. Plus we knocked out a pair of games here, which is great because Yu-Gi-Oh has a lot of games.
- Garfield the Search for Pooky with Ryan Estrada) (August 31, 2025)
This is kind of a funny one because Ryan is technically a random guest that I got from social media. But he’s also someone that I would have asked anyway. And getting someone who actually worked on Garfield at the same time? Heck yeah!
BEHIND THE CURTAIN: PODCAST INSIGHTS
You might have noticed that we didn’t get the Lucky Luke episode on the 7th like I planned. That’s because somehow the file got corrupted and I just couldn’t save it. Which sucks, but what can you do?
Honestly you can just do what I did and call an audible. Which was a bit of a pain to decide what to fill that spot with.
I didn’t want to move any of this month’s later episodes up because that was just pushing the problem down the road.
And honestly, I spent way too long trying to save the files from the Lucky Luke episode.
So I’m looking over everything and it basically comes down to 2 things.
- Who can I trust to have a super easy edit? and
- Who can I tell fast enough that their episode is jumping the line?
And it really left me only one choice. Send Anthony a quick text and off to the races. With sleep in the middle because I was sleepy.
ON THE HORIZON: UPCOMING EPISODES
Because of the nature of putting the last one out so late, this is a repeat from last time. It won’t happen again.
- Spy vs Spy with Anthony Sytko and Doc Issues (which has already come out)
- Ultimate Spider-Man with Derek B Gayle and Doug Fink
- Asterix & Obelix Kick Buttix (XXL) with Chas! Pangburn
- Disney’s PK Out of the Shadows with Esh Johansen

RECOMMENDED READS, WATCHES, LISTENS, & PLAYS
- Comics/Books: Dungeon Crawler Carl. I have to admit that I’m recommending the whole series even though I’m only on book 3. But it’s been really fun and Kayleigh says it stays just as good. There’s aliens taking over the world and letting humans have a chance to avoid death by attempting to survive in a D&D setting.
- Games: Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is just one that my wife and I come back to a lot. Just a simple tile matching puzzle game that has characters from Street Fighter and Darkstalkers acting out a fight in the middle. If you’re doing better, your characters does better in that fight. And there are even specials that can swing things wildly. We use it in my house to settle disagreements.
- Movies/TV: Timeless is a TV show that’s basically Quantum Leap but with actual villains. It’s another one that I’m still working my way through but I’m really happy that someone turned me onto this show.
- Podcasts: Gimmicks is just super fun. Each episode takes a gimmick episode of a TV show and looks into both the gimmick as a whole and how it’s being used in that specific episode.

If you want to help support the show, there's always Patreon. Like I said earlier I'm going to make a real effort to make that worth it.
If you're reading this far, I have a question for you.
Which of my solo episodes here do you think deserve to get redone and have a proper episode with a guest and everything?
Responses will be highlighted in the next update video.
